In Part 2 our discussion with Ian Shaw, Technical Director Capital Football, we continue our discussion based on the Capital Football HPP and the Summer 20's. As things go with Football discussions we get into a lot of related subjects which are never far from thought or discussion. The Capital Football HPP and Coach Education has made a lot of good ground in the last year, as the FFA National Football Curriculum is implemented in the ACT Region (and everyhwere else in Australia). Clubs feature far more in the development dialogue than ever before. There is a very contructive effort being made to eliminate the age relative effect and becom more inclusive of all the talent at age as it develops, largely through the reduction of the unhelpful aspects of "playing squads". The focus has shifted, slowly but steadily to the benefit of all those young players that wish to be developed, not just the selected few. As much "community development" as "High performance" type development. Good thing too! Its a complicated business, a job never realy completed and one that takes a lot of time, years in fact, before we see the outcomes. Some of the indicators already look very promising. This discussion is worthy of careful listening.

If we are never going to get an A-League team then do we need a pathway through NSW and either the Metro/Super/Premier League for the best players in Canberra (maybe even from Under 11s right through to Seniors)? If so and if NSW will not allow Capital Football in as seems to be the case again for 2011 then should FFA needs to step in and do something about it? It will be interesting to see what Ron Smith says about this in the Review. Or else maybe does one of the clubs need to step up and do it?
ReplyDeleteRon Smiths review? How long has this review been going for? 2 months 3 months? I am a parent of a player in the HPP and I have never seen Ron anywhere near a squad training session. How is he conducting this review? Simply from the questionnaire that has been sent out? That is not a review, just sitting behind a computer and analyzing answers and comments does not work.
ReplyDeleteGo to the interviews with Ron Smith on this blog. There are three of them. Ron gives you a very good idea of how he intends to go about it. Fill out the questionairre, he'll analyse it (with or without a computer!)and if you have said anything that merits consideration, he'll be in contact. If some one has said what you say before you, he may not need to speak to you. Make a contribution is the best advice I can give.
ReplyDeleteBut he has not even been to a training session Peter. This has to be fundamentally flawed review if its only taken a questionnaire?
ReplyDeleteWho says 442 is pumping it long football. To me thats pretty narrow minded... theres more to football than 433.
ReplyDeleteYou cant make the whole of australia play 433
