  1. I am a bit underwhelmed by this review. There doesn’t seem to be anything new in it, I’m just a parent and I didn’t find much I didn’t already know. I am also wondering where are the attachments that are listed in the review.

On a related note in NSW, Victoria and South Australia the FFA have launched the Skillaroos program. My understanding is that these squads will become those state’s teams for the under 13 nationals, training four times a week and are going to be playing squads as well. What will our under 13 team be doing? Are we going to adopt this program or will we give them the same poor preparation as last year and get the same poor results?

  2. Ron Smith trawled the environment thoroughly and would probably be the first to say that many of the issues would be known to many int he football community.
I think the subject is reviewed to a finish - now its time for action.
I understand that the new Technical Director will make the way ahead known to the ACt football community.
I don't have any information on the implementation fo the Skillaroos program other than the observations you have made. I had been told the same things. Again, I assume the new CF TD will make that clear.
The NPL hopes to interview the new TD when he is available and we await advice on that requrest.

  3. I thought it was a pretty good summation of the whole topic, and some of the recommendations were spot on.
Grounds in Canberra are obviously a problem and our reliance on the ACT Government grounds is a massive problem. Kambah 3 cops a hiding in the report, but it's actually one of the best 'cluster' of grounds in town.

  4. I agree. I thought Ron Smith drew a practical, at times almost self evedent line under the whole business. What Capital Football decide to do is another matter entirely.
Grounds are a very serious facility / infrastructure issue for our game. This one area of endeavour that the CF Board has under - achieved and the ACT Government under invested.
That brings us back to the $26 million over ten years that went to underwrite a blooody AFL club in western Sydney.
You are absolutely correct to pint to the potential of the Kambah grounds "cluster". It is an excellent site for Football to develop and large top class faciltiy for football and futsal.
Capital Football's offerring at Kambah 3 has been the source of adverse criticism by many, including PL clubs who had to play games there, knowing that it was inferior in terms of ground conditions and faciltities required of the clubs as part of the licence for particpation in the PL. CF did not follow the same standards it set for Pl Clubs. That's not forgotten by several clubs, particularly those with littel money each season.
Kambah is definately one site that should be fast tracked by the ACT Government as a football and futsal hub.
