This program was broadcast on 2xxfm (98.3mhz), across the Australian Community Radio Network on Tuesday at 7:00PM.
In this program we speak to the Head Coach of Belconnen United FC Womens Premier League team, Antoni Jagarevic. Antoni is steering the Womens PL program at Belconnen United and it's very impressive.
Just as impressive as Woden Valley FC Womens outfit. In fact, Belconnen United and Woden Valley are both innovative and progressive womens PL clubs, setting the standard for all the other clubs. Capital Football would do well to take their lead from these two formidable football clubs, populated as they are by some of our best football brains in the ACT.
We have previously interviewed the Coach of WVFC, Ed Hollis and now its time to hear from the Belconnen United Coach , Antoni Jagarevic. Both coaches know how the other prepares their teams to play and the system and style of play each prefers. I would imagine that they would agree on many things in Football, but it’s the differences in their respective playing rosters which underscores the difference in approaches to the 2011 season and behind that difference sits some serious issues for Clubs in Womens Premier League Football. The tactical approach adopted by each coach clearly makes for a fascinating season.
Both coaches recognise the importance of preparing and encouraging young players across the PL Pathways, PL18s and back to the junior club. They both include these younger players in there training. Both Coaches have brought talented young Under 14 players through to the Premier League, at the appropriate time, to further develop and strengthen their playing rosters. Both COaches have ACTAS players (scolarship or training agreements) within thier playing rosters and that's understandable, because they provide such good football development environments for young players.
They both plan their campaigns thoroughly, have a very impressive coaching staff and run thoroughly professional football operations. Its no surprise that both PL clubs draw on a large junior club constituency. Nor is it surprising that many young female players want to play for these two clubs. In so many ways, these two clubs set the pace for the development of PL womens football in the ACT. Other Clubs will follow and improve on their efforts. But it all takes time and a supportive environment in order for clubs to prosper!
The real question that comes to mind is this – is Capital Football organised and sufficiently informed to stay ahead of the rapid improvement in the PL Womens game and make changes, construct administrative environments that are sympathetic and responsive to the demands of Clubs in the Community based Premier League in the ACT? That’s a big question a the moment and there is a few too many differences of opinion between some clubs and CF to be certain the CF is as they say “in front of the game”.
I think you will be impressed with the Belco Coach Antoni Jagarevic. Hope you enjoy the interview and get to their games – you wont be disappointed.
