You Have To Pay To Get Into the Mens and Womens Grand Finals!

Unbelievable!

Capital Football intend to charge the ACT "Football Family" an entry fee to attend the Mens and Womens Grand Finals.

The Capital Football website advises:

ADMISSIONAdults: $8
Concessions: $5
Under-12: FREE
Souvenir Match Program: $2

This really does take the biscuit!

And what do you get for your entry fee, aside from the Football games you planned to watch anyway at either Hawker enclosed or Deakin Stadium, that you didn't get at any other Premier League game at either location, including the semi finals? Answer - bugger all!

What genius thought of this little "financial touch up" on those of us that go to Mens and Womens Premier League throughout the season? It's not as though they will make a big dollar at gate, so why impose this little cost on supporters and families.

The Premier League Clubs haven't charged a cent this season for entry to their venues for the Premier League games, so why does Capital Football feel it needs to slip its hand into the "football family" pocket? "Football Family", strewth, with relatives like this, hmmmm!

Charge for the program, well I guess so - no, hang on a minute, the Premier League Clubs are required to put a program out for every game (don't always do it) and they don't charge the public, just hand them out or pick one up at the canteen.

These are Capital Football run events, so why don't they just follow the example set by the Premier League Clubs, who have generously provided programs for the spectators throughout the season. Print them, put them at the entry points and let spectators take them if they want one. Free of bloody charge!

Capital Football should not try to make a quid out of the "Football Family" come grand final time. This is not necessary and nor is it good public relations. Must be some sort of precursor to the carbon tax!

Un-bloody-believable!  Un-bloody-necessary!

  1. To Capital Football

Why not sell cans of beer at the state league finals? CF would have made alot more friends and money, and wouldnt have to charge $8 to watch local league!

    Another great idea...

  2. This what happens when the person in charge spends too much time with those from across the border. You have to pay to ALL premier league matches there.

  3. Admission and a program for a whole $10! OH MY GOD! What is the world coming to when you have to pay a WHOLE TEN DOLLARS for at least 3 matches? Im sure anyone who has a job earning the minimum wage can afford that.

What is wrong with people in Canberra? Everyone wants everything for free! Maybe the Socceroos game should be free as well!

If the clubs charged for all the matches during the year would you complain about CF charging for the grand final? The clubs can charge all year, not Captial Football's fault they don't.

Oh but the only way you can raise revenue is a canteen hey Pete.

  4. Entry to men's and women's Grand Finals have always attracted an entry fee haven't they?

  5. The ground was packed to the rafters so it obviously didn't make that much difference. It's important not to charge for league matches, but it's not a big deal for the grand final. What I have an issue with is the kid's charge. It should be under 16s (or even under 18s) free. Juniors that play football should never have to pay to get into a PL match. Kids that play League don't even have to pay to get into the Raiders.
At least it's better than last year, they charged for all kids, even toddlers! Now that was worth a rant!

  6. I reckon you're off the mark with this one. $10 for entry and a program is reasonable for a Grand Final. The money is going back into local football so why not. It's not going to break the bank.

Any news on what the attendance figure was for the grand final by the way? The photos on the Capital Football website doesnt really show much in the way of crowd shots.

Gutted I had to miss the game, sounded amazing.

  7. Andy,
Fair enough. I just think that CF could have let this pass for the Grand Finals.

Good crowd for both mens and Womens. Not sure of numbers, but the Mens PL game saw most of hte seating at Deakin occupations on both sides of the field.

The Mens PL game I regret to say was not much in the way of good football - nowhere near the standard of their two previous encounters. Just lots of goals. Mad game really.

The CFC crowd behavior was a major problem - to be specific - an organised group who occupied a section of the wooden tiered seating, were an absolute disgrace. I'll have more to say on this matter in a later post. I was just awful.

I am very reliably informed that significant disciplinary action will be taken against CFC players (not the one on the field during the game)and the Club itself. CFC may well face some very serious sanctions as a consequence of the appalling behavior of a group of its spectators. Took me back to some of the bad old NSL days or some of the Sydney club matches of years best forgotten. A fair amount of the stuff the FFA and the Aust Gov have been trying to remove from our game, was on display courtesy of a number of CFC supporters. Just dumb and dangerous!

You missed some good football in the PL16, PL18 and Pathways in the mens grand finals.

You were lucky to have missed the behavior of some of the CFC spectators, who just wrecked it for the rest of us and made the environment unsafe for all who attended.
