SBS Sport Will Broadcast Highlights of the 2011 Futsal Nationals - So Why Doesn't the FFA Do a Bit More of this for Football and Futsal?

Capital Football advise that SBS Sport will broadcast a one hour packaged highlights program of the FFA Futsal National Finals on
SBS 1, Sunday 13th February, from 1-2 pm.

I notice that the media coverage in this case is credited as follows: "Produced in Association with Capital Football and FFA by
Eurocam Sports Production & Distribution"

I assume that this will cover all finals, but not sure. Either way its good for Futsal.

Perhaps next year the FFA will organise itself to video all the finals and make DVD copies available to players/parents/coaches/supporters at a reasonable cost. Why not arrange to stream the finals and selected games throughout the Championships - and not just the Open category games, a common mistake with the media in Futsal. Now that would be progress.

While I am on the subject - Same for the Football National Youth Championships and NTC Challenge. We can bid for a World Cup but we can't get our act together and promote the game at community level to our own Football and Futsal community. A lot fo these games are a damn site better to watch than far too many of the A League games - which are not free to air.

Vikings Futsal are doing it now for Futsal!

  1. Why haven't Vikings taken over in ACT?

  2. Good question. Don't recall off hand, but I think in my interview with the CEO he gave some explanation. Anyway, when I do the next interview with ikings I'll ask.
The fact is we have always been reasonably well orgainsed for Futsal in one way or another. Vikings made a point of going where the State Federations or FFA couldn't be bothered to go to or hand abandoned. ACT didn't fit that category. That's what makes the NSW venture so dissappointing for Vikings - NSW is locked up with the FFA. But to be frank - its the Vikings Futsal business model that we need here in the ACT. I can't see possibility of us adopting there business approach - not at the moment.

  3. Thanks for that. Seems like they have made a right mess of it in NSW (metro anyway) despite grandious plans, which may send a word of caution to those in the ACT given their close ties with NSW.

  4. I think the Football NSW Futsal is just too well entrenched and linkages through Football too strong for the Vikings in this location.
The only substantial playing connection is the Boomerang FS and to be frank, I can only see positives from that, though it is a significant logistic effort for the Boomernags organisers and parents of young players. In all other espects we live in splendid Futsal isolation - bit like Football.

  5. The broadcast on 13th February will show edited highlights of the men's and women's finals plus brief footage from the juniors (not a huge amount though).

On the day there were full match recordings of the under-16 boy's final, Open men, Open women, Youth men and Youth women. I'm assuming that these would be available on DVD in teh next month or so.....

I couldn't find any information on the FFA website when I last checked. Hope you are right, but......
