  2. True story. It was a dreadful game to watch - hard to watch. Yes, Goulburn are in real trouble with seemingly little prospect of the situation getting a whole lot better and season of games to play. They are battling as best they can at this time. I particularly admired the courage and persistence of the very young GK for the Strikers as he put himself in front of some ferocious shots at goal from CFC.

    This deserves some further comment.

There are some very miserable reasons for this massive decline in the standard of their PL squad roster. Clearly there has been some serious disagreement in and around Strikers. A lot of people claim to know a bit about it, but who knows. I have not yet spoken to one person from any other PL club (and I have spoken to a lot) who want to see this club so badly affected before the start of the 2011 season. The Strikers have a lot of support in different places in the ACT.

What appears to have happened to the Goulburn Strikers is not a pretty story and I wonder if Capital Football are across it. The Strikers are a proud club and have been hard at work to stay in the PL. They are not a bunch to complain. But if CF is aware of their circumstances, and this result makes it clear that something is amiss, what assistance have they contemplated giving this important club in the ACT region? We simply cannot loose them from the PL. Must not happen!

The club appears to be in good hands, led by good football people form their region, financially sound, but they desperately need help. All my dealings last season with the club spokespersons, were truthful and candid. They recruit from their region and a core of senior players have appeared to have remained loyal to the club. The coaching staff has changed and there is the first hint at one of the causal factors in the clubs woes in more recent times. They have a new President, supported by a solid committee.

Yet, some senior players have appeared to have been encouraged to play elsewhere. Last night I listened to a report at a club training, that one the Strikers most talented players, well, probably one the most substantial players in the PL, has declined to play for another PL club, and is now contemplating languishing in a local Goulburn team. Its too bad to be true, but seems to be the sort of thing that has happened to the Strikers PL roster.
Miserable outcome for a club that worked so hard to get to the PL, started like a train on fire and ended its first season in despair. This does not happen by accident. Is Capital Football across this serious threat to a good club and will it help if asked? Why not get proactive - this result should ring every football alarm bell at CF.

I will tell this story one day, as it has been told to me. It should never happen to any club.

    As too CFC!

They are a local powerhouse and as I watched them play against the Sutherland Sharks recently, not for the first time, did I wonder why they are not taking their game to metro NSW. CFC are playing in better style than last season and their playing roster is incredibly strong. The influence of the new coach is apparent and appears positive. He has the best roster in town, though as we saw last season with CFC, this too can bring its problems. They are a slightly younger team and from the look of things, they still have some cutting to do among the likely contenders for the PL team squad. They also appeared in new strip and it looked good. One thing - are the players with their names already on their new strip the ones who have made the cut. Guess so. CFC is going to be hard to toss this season.

16-0 for CFC vs Glbn - was that a misprint?
If not, then either Glbn is in big trouble this year, or the whole PL is if CFC are that much better than Glbn.
