Capital Football High Performance Program Review - Report With the Board

CEO Capital Football, Heather Reid, confirmed yesterday (Monday 6 December 2010) to the NPL that Ron Smith had submitted his review report.

The CEO advised the NPL that the review report would be presented to the Board meeting that evening and there would follow a period of consideration and discussion of the report at Board level. Its not clear yet when the report (in full) will be made available to the ACT Football community.

In addition, the CEO made the point that the Board's decisions with regard to the recommendations contained in the report and any other adjustments to player development programs (as distinct from ACT Representative Squads / Teams), are likely to coincide with the appointment of the new Capital Football Technical Director.

On the subject of the Techncial Director's position, the CEO indicated that they had recieved a number of very good applications for the position and that the selection process, which is a collaborative effort between the FFA (Han Berger) and Capital Football (CEO), now depended on the avialability of the FFA Techncial Director. The hope is that an offer will be made and the person in place before the commencement of the next phase of what we presently call the HPP.

Oh yes, expect the name of the program to change perhaps to simply "Development Program".

This matter is discussed with Heather Reid on Part 2 of our recent interview with the CEO Capital Football.

  1. I think you'll find the current program being run by Capital Football is the "Summer Development Program", not HPP. Not a lot of effort to fact check Peter http://www.capitalfootball.com.au/site/hpprograminformation.php

  2. Yes I am aware of that, but be in doubt, it is the Summer component of the Capital Football HPP. How do I know, because Capital Football tell me so. I refer to it as the Summer HPP for very specific reasons - because that is how it how Capital Football have structured the HPP. One in the same thing - thought that much was obvious. The HPPs are all about "development", just not always to a "high performance" standard. Do your research first mate, before you take a pop at me and you need to do a bit more than point to a "title". Listen to the interviews I have done with Capital Football on this and related matters. We need more than simple editorial comment on player development to get it going forward.
'Not at lot of effort" - you must be joking!

  3. I have a child in the program and every communication I receive from CF refers to the 'Capital Football Summer Development Program' so I'd have to back 'Anonymous' on this one!

  4. Understand. Got similiar stuff myself. But its still their Summer component of what is presently referred to as the HPP. Capitla Football broke the HPP into winter and summer components, unlike other States, which had one 11 - 12 month progrma. It was a useful experiment and attempted to integrate Futsal into the regime. Goo idea, but not as workable as was hoped is my understanding, so the structure changed again and with it the name for the Summer componet. But its still the same subject. I understand the name for the current HPP is likely to change to "Development program" inorder to distinguish it from ACT age representative teams, which has apparently caused some cunfusion.
