This program is broadcast on 2xxfm (98.3mhz), through the Australian Community Radio Network on Tuesday, 14 December 2010 at 7:00PM.
In this program we have Part 2 of our lenghty end of year interview with CEO Capital Football,Heather Reid. We cover the FFA's review of Football compition across the States and Territories, new NAtional Youth Championship schedule, The NTC Challenge (which has now been held - in the interview we were speaking of it just before it was to be held), The HPP Review, Summer 20's, The new Technical Directors position, the things the CEO saw as significant this season and the CEO asks this humble NPL Football trgic what I thought was important - locally.
We will speak to Ron Smith in the very near future about his review into the Capital Football High Performance Program regime. Should make very interesting listening. Go back to our earlier interviews with Ron, just before he began the review and get ready for something a bit special.
Canberra United continue to press their claims for a Premiership. The win aginst Newcastle was very important. The way forward is as clear as clear could be - beat Sydney FC and Brisbane Roar. We are ready to do it this year.

Hey Peter as CF are currently considering the review report for the High Performance Program and you have Ron Smith on the show next week why don't you put this idea to him for a talented boys pathway that many of us are crying out for here in the ACT, and see what he says.
ReplyDeleteFrom the start of 2011:
1) High Performance Programs for U9-U14 boys that run all year round for those boys who already have been identified, or show the potential, for selection into ACT representative teams (making it clear that the Rep pathway is via HPP), with financial assistance for those boys in need
2) HPP playing squads established for U13 and U14 boys in CF-run competitions at an age-appropriate level (or ideally in NSW Premier Youth League or Metro Rep League in their own age group), in the lead up to National Championships
3) The most talented U15 boys enter the ACTAS program given the scrapping of National U15 championships.
4) Have two ACTAS squads - one for U15-U16 -> PL18 participating, and, one for U17-U18 - PP participating.
To begin late 2011
5) CF to work with all junior clubs (that have not yet done so) to establish complementary club programs during summer for boys who have not yet shown potential for selection into ACT representative teams (ie. development programs)
For 2012 or 2013 season
6) Entry of HPP and ACTAS teams from U11 upwards in the NSW Premier Youth League or Metro Rep League.
7) Entry of Canberra team in A-League Youth League.
Now wouldn't that be a great model? Or at least something alot better than we have now.
I'd be interested to know what he thinks.
As it happens, I will not get to speak to Ron Smith about the HPP Review till the following week. Not Ron's fault. It seems the Captial Football Board are still contemplating the report, so Ron is unable to comment till he gets the all clear. I now plan to run the interview on Tuesday, 28 December 2010.
ReplyDeleteNow your plan. Good plan. Dream plan! I'll put it all to Ron when we speak and you can hear his response.
Thanks for taking the trouble to write.
